Imphal, October 14:
Manipur Public Grievances Committee (MPGC) has deplored the alleged damages done to the procedures of NGOs Screening Committee by the corrupt practices of some vested interested people in the State.
In a joint statement, MPGC president Ch Robertson and general secretary S Tomba Singh asserted that the actual procedure of screening and conducting proper interview were not held at all as some experienced NGOs in connivance with their like-minded departmental officials and staff from YAS, Planning and others have misled the higher ups in the Govt with their corrupt handling of the files, interviews, screening and selection at will.
It is unfortunate to note that the State Level NGOs Screening Committee headed by Chief Secretary and which was instituted with the good intention of finding out genuine NGOs/candidates had now become a den of corruption/bribery and liars, the strongly worded statement said.
Many districts have been ignored while some are repeatedly given the chances to enjoy maximum benefits even by manipulating double/triple lists and giving fictitious names of the NGOs or the same persons, the statement charged, adding that irresponsible persons should be taught a remember the need of the time for the emotional integrity of Manipur.
