Imphal, March 25 2009:
National Executive member and convenor of Foreign Affairs Cell, BJP Minority Morcha Nawab Saleem Khan has dubbed the ruling Congress led SPF Government in the State as an anti-people Government which has failed miserably in terms of governance and maintenance of law and order.
Addressing a day-long sammelan of the BJP Minority Morcha at the Nityaipat Chuthek office complex of the party here today as chief guest, Nawab said that the upcoming Lok Sabha election is the right opportunity for the people of Manipur to teach a befitting lesson to such an anti-people Government.
Stating that the BJP led NDA Government had taken up various welfare measures not just for the minorities but also for other people in the country inspite of its short stint at the helm of the power at the Centre, the BJP leader alleged that the Congress party and its allies have not done anything significant in this regard over the last 60 years.
It is precisely for this reason that the people have started distancing themselves from the Congress party and its allies, he said, while expressing confidence that BJP would merge victorious over the Congress party and its allies in the upcoming Lok Sabha election.
Continuing the tirade against the Congress party and its allies, State BJP Unit president Dr H Borbabu said Congress and its coalition partner CPI have been trying to portray BJP as a communal party when the fact is that it is the Congress which was responsible for carving out of Pakistan and Bangladesh from Indian sub-continent through communal politics.
Vice president of BJP Manipur Pradesh Dr S Dhananjoy, former Chief Minister and senior party leader RK Dorendra, party's candidate for the Inner Lok Sabha seat and former Chief Minister W Nipamacha, party's Outer candidate Loli Adanee, senior party leader Meinam Bhorot were also among the prominent party leaders who graced the dais and spoke at the occasion.
