CPI Central Politburo general secretary AB Bardhan today formally kicked off the campaign of the party in the state with a public function held at the Rising Athletic Union (RAU) ground, Khuman Lampak.
CPI is fielding Dr.M Nara as party nominee in the Inner seat of the state.
Speaking to the gathering attending the launching of the election rally of the party, AB Bardhan questioned on the basis of the extension of ceasefire between the NSCN(IM) and Government of India when the government remaining silent even though cadres of the outfit carry out violence activities openly in the state under shadow of the ceasefire.
"What kind of peace talk is it when they NSCN(IM) cadres killed three state government in brutal manner, he asked while expressing strong disagreement with government's no action to the killing of the SDO, Kasom Khullen, Dr Kishan and his two co-staffs at a place in Senapati district after kidnapped from Ukhrul district last month.
Hit by the insurgency problems, all the developmental activities are hindering but at the same time, Bardhan said without development insurgency problems could not be solved.
So, the problem should be solved through dialogue and bring peace in the state, he insisted.
Talking on the issue of AFSPA, he said he Nara be elected and he will press the government at the Centre to implement the Reevan Reddy Commission report which recommended repeal of the Act.
CPI is always in favour of repeal of the Act which people of the state are demanding, he said acknowledging the fasting stir of Irom Sharmila for the last more than one year.
Bardhan who spoke at length also mentioned that UPA government at the Centre neglected the talented sportspersons from the state.
This had been shown by the ouster of the state weight lifter L Monica from the participation in the Beijing Olympic 2008. CPI is always against such look down policy of the Congress led government at the Centre.
State health and family welfare minister, Ph Parijat who also attended the function said that it is not true that effort of the Congress alone had lifted the AFSPA from the Imphal Municipality area.
CPI has a great role in it.

CPI proposed candidate Dr M Nara said his party is always stands for a revolution in the state where farmers, women, children can lead a peaceful life.
Now the era of rule by a single party in the country ended and come up ruling by combining various political parties, he said adding that CPI is always efforting against the undemocratic rule over the people.
