Deputy Director General (Agri Extension) of Indian Council of Agriculture Research (ICAR), North Eastern Region, New Delhi, Dr KD Kokachei who arrived today in the state inspected works taken up in the state under the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK).
Expressing satisfaction to the working of the KVK, he said that he will press the Planning Commission of India to extend financial supports to mend up the shortage in the KVKs in state.
Earlier, the deputy director along with his entourage was received by joint director of ICAR, Manipur Centre along with his officials at Imphal Airport on his arrival.
A function to felicitate him was also organized at the ICAR complex, Lamphel after he inspected the works in the KVKs.
Speaking at the felicitation function, the deputy director expressed satisfied with the functioning of the KVKs in the state and assured that he will appraise the authority of the planning commission to extend more financial supports to the state for developing infrastructures.
The climatic condition of the state would be suited for cultivation of several kinds of food crops.
In order to relief the farmers of the state who are suffering from drought, the centre will provide kharif crop seeds for onward supply to the farmers.
There would be no shortage of rice which is the main food items of the people of the state and northern eastern region as well by the drought.
But there need taking up steps for cultivation of other crops as income earning ways in the kharif crop season.
He also talked about the quality of pineapple, orange and passion fruits available in the state.
