While threatening to begin its mass agitation, the Indigenous Democratic Front (IDF) has accused the State Government of trying to prevent the grassroot level democracy from coming in the five hill districts.
IDF chief Ngachonmi Chamroy told the media today in Senapati town disclosed that at the backdrop of the concerted public demand to hold the early elections to the Autonomous District Council (ADC) polls in the Manipur hill districts, the government of Manipur is creating confusion to divert the people's attention to the issue by announcing to conduct DPC for the primary school teachers.
"It is meaningless to conduct the DPC for the Autonomous District Council (ADC) teachers when there is no full-fledged Council in the hill districts.
Detailing the dilly-dallying tactics of the State Government with regard to the holding of ADC polls, the Indigenous Democratic Front (IDF) said that the State Election Commissioner has not been delegated the 'real' power to begin the electioneering process.
