Sounding red alert over possible outbreak of Bird flu in the sub-division, a day long training programme of Rapid Response Team on Bird flu sponsored by Directorate of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Services, Government of Manipur was held at Jiri Town Hall here today.
Organised by the office of Jiri Veterinary and Animal Husbandry, the training programme was attended by Chairperson of Jiribam Municipal Council M Ratan Singh as chief guest, Deputy Director of Veterinary Office, Jiri Dr S Thoiba as functional president and president of All Jiribam United Clubs' Association M Maipaksana and Councillor of Jiribam Municipal Council T Panmei as guest of honour.
Notably, the Veterinary Office at Jiri has opened a check post to prevent incoming of poultry products from Assam to Manipur in the wake of Bird flu outbreak in Assam.
Meanwhile, the standoff between the village authority of Kaiphundai and 55 Bn BSF has come to an end after an amicable solution as reached.
Mention may be made that a Havildar of E-Coy of 55 Bn BSF posted at 11th Mile along National Highway 53 thrashed a civilian of Kaiphundai identified as G Adam (27) s/o G Aphun , while he and his friends were celebrating Advent Christmas on a jeep in the evening of December 10 .
Chairman of Kaiphundai Village Authority G Issac informed that the standoff ended after an apology was tendered by the officials of 55 Bn BSF along with assuring that innocent civilians will not be harmed by the security forces in the future.
