Imphal, October 15:
Setting October 31 as the deadline for taking up necessary measures for filling up the potholes and proper maintenance of the Tiddim Road, the drivers who are doing service along the said route have warned of taking recourse to various intense agitations with effect from November 1 if the authority concerned fails to do the needful.
In a joint statement, president of Tiddim Road Drivers' Union Khumukcham Tomchou Meetei and secretary Koijam Rojesh Singh lamented that the condition of Tiddim Road has not been maintained for the last 20 years, thereby causing lot of difficulties to the drivers plying along the road.
Apart from not having expanded the road in accordance to the volume of the traffic, numerous pot-holes that have come up have also led to frequent occurrence of road related accident, thus endangering the life of the passengers.
The drivers' union has also appealed to all the people, meira paibis, clubs and the social organisations for support and co-operation in the agitation to be launched by it.
