Imphal, October 15:
Expressing strong resentment against shifting of the office of Samulamlan TD Block which had been constructed spending crores of rupees after providing the required land free of cost by Samulamlan Village Authority to Churachandpur district headquarters, the villagers of the area falling under the TB Block have demanded reinstatement of the office.
Talking to mediapersons, chief of Samulamlan village K Paohminglen said the office of the Samulamlan TD Block had been constructed in 1987 after the village authority provided around 30 acres of land free of cost.
But within two years of operation, the office was shifted to Churachandpur headquarters thereby causing lot of difficulties to the villagers of 92 villages falling under the jurisdiction of the TD block.
Owing to shifting of he office on one hand and the problem of communication and transport on the other, the villagers have been denied their share of the developmental programmes and schemes being taken up by the Government from time to time, Paohminglen lamented.
The village chief further informed that the building of the FCS godown which was constructed within the office complex of Samulamlan TD Block some 10 years back has not been inaugurated till today.
Prolonged exposure to the vagaries of weather has led to crumbling of the building and the doors and windows have been stolen.
On the condition of the road and transport in the area, Paohminglen said the 4 km long inter-village road connecting Sangang and Samulamlan has not been repaired by the Government for the last many years.
There is also no school and health care centre in Samulamlan area, he informed, while drawing the attention of the Government for taking up necessary remedial measures.
