Acting on a specific tip off that a truck carrying a consignment of SP capsules had crossed Mao Gate on its way to Imphal, a team of Imphal East commandos set up a mobile check post near NRL Energy Station, Mantripukhri and waited for the truck.
The commando team stopped one suspicious truck and checked it at about 1.30 pm during which around 50,000 numbers of SP capsules were found stuffed inside two beddings, informed a source in Imphal East district police.
On questioning the passengers travelling in the truck, it was learnt that some people would come to receive the consignment in an auto-rickshaw.
Subsequently, the commando team waited for the owner of the consignment to show up.
A little later, one Md Nahamei alias Azizur Rahaman of Sora Khunthak Chingzin showed up in an auto-rickshaw.
Nahamei and handyman of the truck Heitham Naoba Meitei (19) s/o Ibungo of Lamsang Heibongpokpi have been apprehended.
