Imphal, June 10 2009:
The state government has revised the existing rate of ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh to Rs 3 lakh with immediate effect payable to State police personnel in the event of death in extremist violence and in the event of injury to civilians/state police personnel in extremist related violence, according to a government order.
The order to this effect issued by Additional Secretary (Home), M Yaiskul Meitei also set the rate in cases of injury to state police and civilians.
Accordingly, it fixed Rs 75,000 for injury leading to permanent disability, Rs 50,000 for grievous injury and Rs 10,000 for minor injury.
The order further said that no ex-gratia or financial assistance for injury is admissible to militants and overground workers of militant groups,banned or otherwise.
The revised rate of ex-gratia and financial assistance for injury will come to effect from the date of the issue of orders in pursuance of MHA letter (No 11012/31/97-NE dated 26-7-2006, adding that no old cases shall be opened.
The order is issued with concurrence of Finance Department in accordance with an UO note.
