Suspension of Operation (SoO) extended for another year

Leaders of Kuki groups which are signatories to Suspension of Operation (SoO) held talks with officials of the Centre and State Government at the National capital yesterday and agreed to extend SoO for another year.
According to a source, Chief Secretary DS Poonia, Secretary North East in-charge of Union Home Ministry Sambhu Singh and officials of IB and Army represented the State and the Central Govt at the talks attended by leaders of two umbrella bodies of SoO signatory Kuki groups, namely UPF
and KNO.
The source informed that representatives of the State and Central Govt made it clear that inspection would be conducted in all the designated camps of the SoO signatory groups to find out whether armed cadres stay within the camps and their arms have been deposited or not.
In the tripartite talks, all the three parties agreed to extend SoO for another one year with effect from August 21 .
