Demanding unconditional release of former Accountant cum Passing Officer at SBI Secretariat Branch Thuamjanung, SBI staff have started wearing black badges from today.
Thuamjanung posted at SBI Churachandpur was arrested by police in connection with his reported involvement in the fraudulent withdrawal of Rs 46 lakhs.
The protest demonstration launched by all SBI staff in Manipur may spread to all other banks of the State from tomorrow.
Speaking to media persons at SBI main building at MG Avenue this afternoon, convenor of the United Forum of Bank Union, Manipur State Committee H Keshorjit and regional secretary of the SBI Officers' Association Manipur, Manipur Region, Ch Lilabanta said that more intense forms of agitation may be launched if Thuamjanung Tunglut is not released unconditionally.
The protest demonstration of wearing black badges was launched today in accordance to a decision adopted at a joint meeting of the SBI staff association and the officers' association held yesterday.
Staff of all other banks would be joining the agitation of wearing black badges from tomorrow in protest against harassment of bank employees, Keshorjit and Lilabanta said.
