Ancient books on Meetei culture and religion were handed over to Leisemba Sanajaoba of the Royal Palace for preservation.
In a simple function held today at the Royal Palace Lairenjam Nganthoi of Nambol handed over 8 ancient books to titular king of Manipur, Leisemba Sanajaoba.
Some of these books are Mei eratpa, Lai haraoba, Naoda nuya, Lai khudalol amadi lanna thouram, Thengkoulol, Khumnung Yagonba, Lang oon landai, etc.
These book were originally hand written in Meetei scripts and translated into modern meeteilol using Bengali scripts.
Sanajaoba expressed gratitude to Nganthoi for donating those valuable books.
He said that this will encourage others to donate and preserve ancients priceless books which are in their possession from their forefathers to the Royal Palace for posterity.
