Former MPP President and MLA O Joy today said that the detention of the party's general secretary Y Khemchand under NSA was a clear indication of an attempt to inflict political harassment.
He was speaking at the reception ceremony of Y Khemchand - who has been released from the NSA yoke yesterday - hosted by the party members today at the MPP head office here.
O Joy further said, Y Khemchand took an important role in the party's stir against the Khwairamband incident on July 23.He condemned the detention of Khemchand under NSA for using his licensed gun.
He pointed out that Khemchand was released after a Central Home Ministry's missive to the state government authority.
The incident clearly shows that the detention was an attempt to cause political harassment.
Urging the government to end the class boycott impasse immediately, O Joy further observed that the government should summon a special session of the Assembly if it could not break the deadlock at the earliest.
He also condemned the atrocities committed by the security forces against the media.
Speaking on the occasion, MPP President Dr Nimaichand Luwang said, truth finally triumphs in the case of the detention of Khemchand under NSA on wrong and baseless charges.
Citing the arrest of various militants with arms from Babupara area and arrest of militants at Airport who were scheduled to travel along with minister, the MPP president categorically asked why they were not detained under NSA.
He said, his party strongly condemned the detention of some persons under NSA when tension prevails.
Meanwhile, the MPP Central Committee of the MPP today observed that the prolong class boycott agitation will result in the generation gap.
A meeting of the Central Committee decided to press for the summoning of a special session of the Assembly on class boycott issue.
It also condemned the threat on media.
