The Thadou Students' Association (TSA) today has threatened to impose indefinite economic blockade on the two national highways if the government fail to translate into works the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with the students body on or before February 20 .
President, TSA, Lanminlun Singhjit speaking to the media persons today reiterated that in the MoU which was signed between the students body and state education minister around one year back, state government has agreed to mend up the shortage of infrastructures and other require manpower in the government junior and high schools located within the Sadar Hills.
But the MoU is yet to translated into works till date even though a 48-hour chaka bandh called on the NH-53 and 39 had imposed commencing from February 11 to 13 last.
Alleging that before the bandh was called, they went to call on with the concern education minister but he declined to call on and instead state DGP, Y Joykumar issued warrant of arrest to the students asked why the authorities are doing so while justifying that the stir launched and planning to launch by the TSA are for bringing quality education in the state.
He also asked why the DGP issued the warrant to the students while they did not issued such order to NSCN(IM) cadres in the recent stand off with the Assam Rifles at Siroy village.
Reiterating that they would impose indefinite blockade if the government does not give positive response to the demand of the students on or before February 20, the president appealed the government to take serious note on the demand as it was related with improvement of school infrastructures for quality education.
