New Delhi, March 18 2009:
An alleged member of People's United Liberation Front (PULF), a separatist militant organization in Manipur, was arrested by the police on Monday.
Accused Mohammad Abdul Noor alias Danish Chaudhary (35), was reportedly the general secretary and chief coordinator of PULF.
Sources said Noor escaped from custody of the police in Manipur on March 14.According to the police, an information was received through 57 Mountain Division of the Army and Manipur Police that Noor and his associates would be coming to Delhi to collect a consignment of arms and money.
After the tip-off, Delhi Police formed a team under supervision of ACP Sanjeev Yadav to apprehend Noor and he was arrested from the market in Munirka.
PULF was chaired by MI Khan who was arrested in Bangalore, but managed to escape with Noor on March 14 from Kakching, Manipur.
PULF is active in Kerao, Kyamgai, Lilong and Urup Heibimakhyang areas of Manipur.
Noor joined PULF in 2006 and was appointed its Delhi-based coordinator.
According to the police, he was involved in kidnapping of an assistant engineer of PWD in Manipur for whom the militant organization demanded ransom of Rs 4 crore.
