Imphal, March 18 2009:
A headless skeleton was found buried at a place between Thingjangphai and Pangjong bus terminus of Churachandpur district today at about 11.45 am in the morning.
It may be recalled that a Mrs Chinkhanliang (46) wife of late Tongkhongam, former village chief of Kangvai village, had reported to the Churachandpur Police about the skeleton on March 8 last.
Police had enquired about the incident at the spot.
The police team buried the skeleton again as order of court was required to recover the skeleton and left it there.
Police requested the district magistrate of the district for order to unearth the skeleton and recover on March 15 last, due to some inconvenience and the holiday of Yaoshang festival.
The district magistrate gave the order to unearth the skeleton on on March 17 last.
When the police unearth the skeleton today in presence of an executive magistrate, the skull of the skeleton was gone missing.
Only some ribs were found at the spot.
Until now the police is not sure about the missing bones of the skeleton whether some persons steal the bones or some dogs take it.
Police recover the few bones that was found at the spot for post mortem examination.
