Imphal, September 15, 2009:
Joint Action Committee (JAC) for 2006 Autonomous District Council teachers appointed parents and guardians has warned of launching series of agitations if the government fails to retract its faults within three days from today.
According to a memorandum submitted to the CM, the JAC threatened to impose statewide general strike from midnight of September 19 followed by indefinite economic blockade of National Highways 39 and 53 from midnight of September 21 if their grievances are not redressed.
Urging the Chief Minister to intervene on the matter of fresh DPC for recruitment of primary teachers by superseding 835 teachers appointed in 2006 under six ADCs, the memorandum submitted to the CM by the JAC today informed him of the humiliation suffered by the parents and guardians of the 835 appointed teachers after considering the treatment of their wards.
The representation of the JAC highlighted that holding of fresh DPC for superseding of 835 teachers appointed in 2006 through regular DPC will be sub-judiced.
It urged the Chief Minister to intervene on the matter.
It pointed out that the 835 teachers were appointed by the government in 2006.Service books and teachers identity cards were issued and they were given regular salary for 11 months by the government.
On September 1 this year, the State Government ordered for the conduct of fresh DPC by superseding the case of 835 teachers of 2006 on the pretext of terming that the 835 teachers appointed in 2006 were 'excess'.
The JAC memorandum asserted that if the appointment of 835 teachers in 2006 were excess appointment then the government should be blamed for the same while adding that the appointed teachers should not be victimised.
