Imphal, May 06 2010:
The Director General of Border Security Force Raman Srivastav (IPS) called on the Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh last night and reportedly assured that the BSF will take all special security measures in greater Imphal and valley district areas.
A BSF statement issued today maintained that the meeting, which was also attended by other top officials of the para-military force including the IG and DIG, focused on the present security scenario of Manipur.
The DG, who arrived here yesterday to review overall security and operational activities of the BSF deployed in various parts of the State, had also called on the Governor Gurbachan Jagat yesterday afternoon.
Raman Srivastav's assurance for 'special security measures' in the valley districts assumes significance as the State Government is informed to be facing security personnel's inadequacy following additional deployment of State forces from the valley districts in Mao and Jessami areas to enforce State Cabinet's decision of allowing entry of NSCN (IM) general secretary Th Muivah into Manipur.
