Imphal, September 12, 2009:
Manipuri Students' Federation (MSF) has announced to take a momentary break in its academic campaign 'Eikhoi Lairik Ningthina Tamshi' in view of the prevailing situation of the land while also announcing to launch various agitations.
A statement issued by general secretary in-charge of the MSF, H Chandradhon informed that the students' body has joined the agitations spearheaded by the Working Committee of the Apunba Lup to show disappointment over the government's response to the demands of the people.
The MSF statement insisted that the private schools' authorities and school van owners should not charge fees to students for the month of August, when there were no classes due to curfew imposed by the government.
In case the school authorities had already collected the fees for the said month in advance, they must refund or make adjustment for other months.
The school authorities should either bill the fees to the government or suffer a loss on their part.
The students' body further urged coaching/tuition centres to cease their teaching activities from September 14 in order to know the sentiment of the people.
It urged the people to restrain cooperation to the State's police commandos of the Home department. The MSF also urged students pursuing professional courses like law, technical and medical lines to join the protest.
