Solar project to redress the problem of power shortage in Saikul

MLA Yamthong Haokip has declared that a solar power project would be taken up at the estimated cost of Rs two crores under the sponsorship of the Government of India so as to redress the problem of power shortage in Saikul Assembly Constituency.
Speaking at a thanksgiving cum special prayer ceremony jointly organised by Komrem Baptist Church Association and Saikul Village Authority at Saikul community hall today, Yamthong Haokip informed that the amount required for taking up the solar power project has been already sanctioned.
The project once completed can certainly make up the power deficit to some extent.
Claiming that development works implemented in Saikul Block since the block was created were satisfying, Yamthong said that he has already started implementation of several development programmes one after another in the constituency from where he was elected MLA.
He also sought attention of the public to cooperate with his efforts to complete the development projects in time.
Plans are afoot to black-top all roads located in 5 Km radius of Saikul sub-divisional headquarters before Christmas and also to install 100 solar street lamps within the constituency.
The State Government would go for maintenance work of the solar street lamps after five years.
The Government has also sanctioned another Rs one crore to take other development works, said Yamthong.
Due efforts would be put in to build the Saikul SDO office anew in the form of a mini secretariat.
In addition to a modern market shed which would cost around Rs 2.5 crores.
Saikul community hall would also be constructed at the estimated cost of Rs 30 lakhs.
Moreover, efforts were on to repair the Purul Likli-Molnom road, said the MLA.
