If the Education Minister fails to translate the assurances he had given into reality within the next few days, the Kuki Students' Organisation (KSO), Moreh Block and All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU), Chandel District Committee, Moreh will call for a 72 hour bandh on NH 39 between Imphal and Moreh from September 14. Announcing this, a joint press release issued by General Secretary, KSO, Moreh Block, Len Mate and Vice President of AMSU, Moreh, Santosh Singh stated that the Education Minister, L Jayenta Kumar had given his assurances to the representatives of AMSU, Chandel District Committee, Moreh and KSO, Moreh Block in the presence of AMSU, GHQ president at his quarter on August 23 that the problems of Moreh Higher Secondary School would be solved within August 31. However, the much anticipated assurance given by the Minister has not yet been translated into reality even though a week had already passed since the given time, the press release said.
The assurance was even highlighted with much enthusiasm during a press conference held at the AMSU HQ the same day which was published in all the leading dailies.
Therefore, the two student bodies have decided after thorough discussions to make the following demands.
That, if the government fails to appoint a principal or principal-in-charge on or before September 14 (by 6 pm), the two student bodies will impose a 72 hr bandh on Imphal to Moreh road from 6 pm of September 14 to 6 pm of September 17. The government shall be held responsible for any untoward incidents during these days, the two student bodies warned adding that if no positive action comes up even after the bandh, the two bodies shall be compelled to take new course of action they deem fit until their legitimate demands were met.
