Pharmacists of the pharmacies nearby the JN Hospital, Porompat today staged a sit-in protest decrying monetary demand served by undergrounds to them today.
According to the pharmacists, from the 75 pharmacy shops in the area KCP(MC), Lanheiba is demanding Rs 4000 each and Rs 200 per month by the PREPAK.
Those persons behind the monetary demand in the name of KCP MC) Lanheiba set the dateline for payment of the money within today (October 5).The sit-in protest will continue till October 7, pharmacists said.
Running a pharmacy is not a high profitable business.
Pharmacists and salesmen of the pharmacies are running their families with the income from the shops.
They are facing difficulties in procuring life saving drugs.
Amidst the woes facing by them, the monetary demands of undergrounds are coming up, said a pharmacist participating in the sit-in protest staged under the banner of the JN Hospital Pharmacy Association.
He further said that they were threatened to close down their shops if the demands are not fulfilled.
Pharmacists participating in the protest expressed strong condemnation to the frequent attacks at the houses and institutions by the undergrounds for not meeting monetary demands served by them.
At the protest site, slogans written with "We have no excess money to pay, we have no arm, not treat us like arm group, don�t add another burden on them, how can we survive," etc.
