Doctor's negligence leads to man's death

Imphal, March 31, 2011:
The family of a man who died at the ICU ward of RIMS hospital today, has blamed doctor's negligence behind the death.
Thirty-seven year old Konthoujam Ranjit son of late Thoiba of Thiyam Konjin Mayai Leikai expired around 7.30 am at the hospital where he was brought with severe injuries sustained in an assault.
Ranjit sustained injuries when he was beaten up by one Takhellambam Shantikumar (28) son of Kokngang on March 27 around 10 am.
Since he was brought to the hospital, Dr Priyokumar of ENT department of the hospital, who is also working at Imphal Hospital, attended him.
Ranjit was first admitted at Imphal Hospital where a minor operation was conducted on him.
His condition becomes serious on the next day after a nurse given him intra-muscular and intra-veinous injections.
As he failed to return to normalcy after having become unconscious, the doctor attending him referred him at the RIMS hospital.
After struggling for life for three days, Ranjit expired today morning around 7.30 am.
Family as well relatives blamed that negligence on the part of the doctor attending was behind the death of Ranjit and demanded appropriate action from the authority concerned.
