Burglar gang busted, ring leader held

A ring leader involved in different cases of burglary at Imphal city has been apprehended by City Police along with a number of stolen articles.
Parading the ring leader along with mobile phone handsets he reportedly stole from some shops of Imphal, City Police OC RK Tejbir told media persons that Md Abdul Salim (29) s/o Kaher of Kyamgei Muslim Awang Leikai was apprehended from near Kasturi bridge, Thangal Keithel in the night of March 29 .
Abdul Salim was involved in four different cases of burglary at Imphal city.
After his arrest, his house at Kyamgei Muslim Awang Leikai was raided by a joint team of City Police and Imphal City commando unit during which 30 stolen mobile phone handsets were recovered.
Records of burglary and theft committed in the dead of night at Imphal city was a major headache and a challenge to City Police.

It demanded constant vigil as the burglars and thieves committed their criminal acts at any time convenient to them.
OC Tejbir claimed that the arrest of Abdul Salim was a major breakthrough for the police.
Saying that his gang-mates have been identified, the OC listed them as Md Najauddin (35), Md Abdul Nur alias Ithem (29) of Sekmaijin and one Naba of Phoubakchao.
However, the three gang members could not be arrested till date.
Talking about the March 29 arrest, Tejbir said that Abdul Salim and his gang were already in the process of breaking open a shop near the temporary market shed when police surrounded the area.
The burglars wore olive green jerseys similar to those issued to security forces.
The police succeeded i nabbing Abdul Salim.
One bicycle, two crow-bars and some other equipment were seized from the possession of Abdul Salim.
Abdul Salim was involved in burgling ready-made garment stores of Paona Keithel��D Menz, KP Store and Converse, in 2009.Abdul was produced before Court yesterday and he was remanded to police custody for four days.
