Men in combat dress loot Rs.1.38 lakh

Imphal, March 31, 2011:
Five men in combat dress entered a house at Pishum Oinam Leikai last night and looted a cash amount of Rs.1.38 lakh from the house.
The five men entered the house around 12.30 am identifying themselves as security personnel and looted the amount after conducting a raid in the house in the name of searching UGs, reports said.
The house that was looted belongs to Yumnam Saran (40) son of Sharatchandra.
The five men team first asked for Romesh, the younger brother of Saran who was not at the home at the time their coming, family members said adding that the money was found missing when a family member opened the almirah where the money was kept for payment to purchase timber.
The five persons came in a Gypsy vehicle and two of them seemed to be Meeteis.
They also provided a mobile phone number (9206043623) before leaving the house.
When the number was contacted, the man who picked up the phone merely asked whether Romesh had come back home or not.
