Six growers namely M Shyamananda Singh, T Nabachandra Singh, Th Imocha, L Ranjit Singh, Ashihrii Pfuze and Ms N Chachei from Manipur will take part in the three-day 3rd International Flora Expo 2007 commencing tomorrow at Pragati Maidan here.
Media Today Group based in Delhi, which is the India�s leading agro-based media group, organizes the International Flora Expo that is the South Asia�s largest floriculture gardening, greenhouse technology and floristry show, with active support from various government and non-government organizations including National Horticulture Mission and National Horticulture Board under the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperation apart from floriculture, nursery and horticulture associations in India.
The Director of Horticulture, Government of Manipur Kh Kirankumar Singh said here today that Manipur would get the space of 60 sq.
metres at the Expo for displaying the unique products like bonsai, dried flowers and orchids produced by the local growers from Manipur.
In the last Expo 2006 held at the same venue, Manipur got the exhibition space of 20 sq metres only and a few growers took part.
In this Expo, our growers could find the domestic and foreign buyers of their products, apart from learning the present trend of the floriculture world, he added.
Besides exhibition, the Expo will have two international seminars � one on Investment opportunities in floriculture and the other on Greenhouse management, distribution and marketing of cut flowers and plants.
There will be a Buyer � Seller Meet where the organizer will arrange top buyers from importing countries to meet top Indian exporters.
Flower arrangement competition and training will also be conducted.
Manipur participants - M Nabachandra and Th Imocha will display bonsai and foliage plants, T Nabachandra - indigenous orchids, Ashihrii Pfuze and N Chachei - dried flowers, and L Ranjit Singh will attend seminars.
