Lamka, December 02:
As the CDSU sponsored indefinite general strike was effectively monitored in the district, all commercial establishments, educational institutions and transportation remained idle effecting normal life in and around the township.
Upon enquiring, leaders of the union claimed that no task for compromise has been initiated as of today saying the strike will remain until authorities concerned offers an acceptable response to their demands.
Wary of the situation, security personnel were placed in all vital government establishments while uniform personnel patrolled the streets.
The students' strike has been initiated to protest alleged meddling by the district representatives in transferring the deputy commissioner.
A student leader close to the agitating group said the commissioner allegedly received the wrath of MLAs/Ministers of the district as he, against their wishes rejected faulty withdrawal of outstanding funds from various constituencies of the district.
If the recent development in the district is any indication for the forthcoming assembly election, current representatives are likely to face an uphill task as more of their dubious act will crop up once their clout is curbed by poll rules.
