Imphal, September 26 2009:
Manipur University Tribal Students' Union (MUTSU) has today clarified that the news item which appeared in various newspapers on September 24 on MUTSU should not be construed as mere allegation and charge by a section of the students, rather it should be taken by the smooth handle in order to lift the banner of the university.
General secretary of MUTSU, Seiminthang Haokip asserted in a statement that MUTSU stands for all students of the university with an altruistic bent of mind and continues to strive for the well-being of the students.
It stated that it will not be cowed down to the threat of action by the MU authority.
The MUTSU statement further conveyed that it could not comprehend the undue delay in declaring the results of recruitment for the post of lecturer in Political Science department, solely meant for the ST, interview for which was conducted six months back.
Calling the MU authority to clarify the issues which the MUTSU has raised including the route buses, hostel accommodation, promotion matter of SC/ST employees, etc the statement further pointed out that the non-functioning of Wi-Fi internet for the past two months is an indication of incompetency and maladministration of the MU officials.
Stressing on the urgent need to revive the MUSU, the statement argued that there is no reason why students' union/association of MU should not exist if there are MUTA and MUSA.
It also questioned the existence of hostel for STs despite fund for the same had been sanctiond and withdrawn from the Union Ministry of Tribal Affairs 4/5 years back.
It urged all concerned not to be fallen preys at the shallow tactics of MU authority.
