The 30th State Level Science Exhibition for Children 2009-10 with the theme Science, Technology and Society of the state education department opened here today at Bengali High School, Bapupara, Imphal.
Not like the previous year which students across the nine districts of the state participated, this year less students are taking part in the exhibition.
The reason can be cited as the prevailing situation where schools were remaining shut for the last around four months since September 9 .
Students of 20 schools with 53 exhibits are taking part in the event.
Except from Churachandpur, students of other hill districts are not taking part.

The first day of the exhibition was marked by a seminar on Astronomy-pass and present.
State education minister, Dr L Jayentakumar graced the inaugural function as chief guest and presided over by prof AK Manihar of Chemistry department of MU and director of education (s) M Harekrishna attended as guest of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, education minister expressed sorry when the exhibition was not able to hold timely stating that normally the same was around October and November.
The same could not hold timely due to the impasse over the class boycott stir, he added.
Considering such inconveniences causing to the students, every body need to effort not to touch education sector at any cost and related it with people's issues.
The minister also expressed concern over the less participation by the students citing that most of the schools could not participate in the exhibition as science subject were not switch on in their respective schools.
Delivering his speech as president of the function, prof AK Manihar, the changes in the world is brings about by education and research.
The two things is the most effective tools in advancing forward by the human society.
The exhibition will help in exposing inborn talents of the students and it will influence the students in exploring more in future.
Authority also needs to modified education system to suit with the fast changing world, he added.
