Imphal, August 01 2009:
Observing that the five injured victims of the July 23 BT Road firing incident who are undergoing treatment at RIMS are yet to receive any financial assistance from the Government, the Rongmei Lu Phuam (RLP) has urged upon the Government to provide financial assistance to the victims at the earliest.
A press release issued by RLP observed that the injured victims have been facing severe hardships to meet the medical expenditures with majority of them belonging to economically unsound families.
Asserting that every patient has a right to see what was happened inside his/her body, the RLP decried the refusal of RIMS authority to show the projectile removed from Golmei Mangal's hand to his family members.
Golmei Mangal is among the five people who sustained bullet injuries in the July 23 firing incident.
The RLP further appealed to the State Government to bear all expenditures incurred by the injured victims for their medical treatment.
Citing a news report published in Delhi based weekly magazine Tahelka, the RLP asserted that Chungkham Sanjit, the alleged UG suspect, was shot dead by commandos at point blank range inside a pharmacy.
The youth was killed in a fake encounter, it said.
