Decrying the failure of the Government to provide ex-gratia or any other form of assistance to the families of the two people who were charred to death when cadres of the KLO/KLA burnt a bus at Lahorijan, Assam on October 23 last year, a protest demonstration was staged at Langol Tarung today.
Robert Gonmei of Sangrungpang village in Tamenglong district, then 31 years old and his mother-in-law Ginthailu Gangmei of Chalungkhou village under Henglep sub-division were killed when the KLA/KLO cadres torched the bus after locking its door.
The two families are yet to receive any form assistance either from the Union Government or the State Government or Government of Assam.
Earlier, the State Government assured ex-gratia and suitable jobs to the next of kins of the two deceased.
However, nothing has come out of the Government's assurance till date, said Panti Golmei, president of the Rongmei Lu Phuam which organised the protest sitting.
She said that different forms of agitation will be launched in case the Government fails to fulfil its assurance at the earliest.
Meanwhile, the two families have submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister today pressing for ex-gratia and suitable jobs.
