Imphal, May 30 2010:
In a tragic incident, 11 soldiers including one CRPF jawan were killed in a road accident today on NH-53 between Tupul and Kotlien, said a statement issued by PIB Defence Wing today.
The 10 soldiers belonged to the 165 Bn Territorial Army (Home and Hearth).
The accident occured when the truck in which they were travelling skidded off the road and plunged down a 100 feet gorge.
The Army authority has condoled the deaths of the soldiers and shared the grief and pain of the bereaved family members, said the statement adding that most of the departed soldiers belonged to Manipur.
Arrangements for military funerals and fitting farewell services are being readied, said PIB.
