With the task of verifying the service records of the Government teachers to find out fake appointments having almost completed, orders for releasing the salaries of the teachers for three months have been started, said Education Minister Francis Ngajokpa.
Talking to mediapersons at his office chamber today, the Minister informed that the pay bills of the teachers in the hill districts would be countersigned by the concerned Deputy Commissioners while in the valley districts it would be done by the Director of Education (S).
Director of Education (S) Ch Jayanta who was also present at the occasion informed that the verification of the service records of the teachers in Churachandpur district has been completed and subsequently the relevant order for releasing the salary for these teachers have been issued.
Similar orders for the teachers of Bishnupur district, Tamenglong district and Jiribam would be issued very soon, he added.
While informing that the task of verification of service records of the teachers of Chandel, Kangpokpi and Imphal East Zone-II and Imphal West Zone-I are also almost completed, the Director said that the salary of the teachers would also be released.
However, for Ukhrul and Senapati district, it might take another 3/4 days, as all the relevant documents have been burnt in the recent fire.
The Director said since most of the teachers working in Government higher secondary schools were recommended by MPSC, there is no room for any suspicion and accordingly their salary have been released.
However, instructions have been given to check the service records of the graduate teachers in the Higher Secondary Schools.
While admitting that the teachers are facing various inconvenience due to delay in releasing their salaries, the Education Minister noted that the present problem has come about following detection of fake appointment cases in the Education Department.
The Minister also assured that all those who are found guilty would be given fitting punishment and the all the Government money they had misused would be recovered after filing a police case against them.
Emphasizing On the need to develop the existing Govt schools, the Minister further assured that efforts would be made for setting up model schools.
However, he added that the success of these model schools would depend on the dedication and hard work of the teachers.
Science seminar: The Students' Science Seminar which was scheduled to be organised by Thoubal District Zonal Office, Zone-Ill on August 26 has been postponed.
It would be held on September 3 at the same venue.
