Union Home Secretary G K Pillai along with Joint Secretary (Home) North East in-charge Navin Verma arrived here in Imphal Friday to review the situation in the state and to hold internal security meeting with Central security forces in the state.
The Union home secretary during his two day camping in the state would hold a meeting with the officials of the Central security establishments in the state on internal security before meeting chief minister O Ibobi Singh and senior police officials, sources said.
The home secretary GK Pillai and joint secretary (home) Navin Verma attended a two-day long Development Seminar sponsored by Union ministry of Development of North East Region (DoNER today on their arrival in the state at Moirang INA complex in Bishnupur district.
The second day seminar will hold at Senapati district headquarters
tommorow.
In an attempt to find out the needs of the people, "Development Seminar" was held today at the Auditorium of INA Memorial Complex, Moirang.
The seminar, organised by the District Administration of Bishnupur, was attended by various Central officials.
Union Home Secretary, G.K.Pillai, said the objective of the Seminar is to find out the needs of the people of the district and to recommend for redressing the same to the Union Ministries.
GK Pillai noted that Bishnupur district has the potential in tourism industry as well as in agriculture and horticulture sectors.
He also noted the district needs improvement in public health centres, and other developmental schemes.
He assures the needs will be addressed.
Speaking on the occasion, Secretary of DoNER and former Chief Secretary of Manipur, Jarnail Singh has shared his vast experiences as an administrator here and also dwelt on the various perspectives the district has to nurture on development front.
Counting the resources of Bisnupur district, Chief Secretary of the state, DS Poonia also reminded the various programmes for the development of Loktak Lake.
The Deputy Commissioner of Bishnupur district, K Panmei gave a slide presentation on various developments and flagship programmes like NREGS, IAY, SGSY, ICDS, Loktak Lake, health issues, telecommunication, sports, banking facilities, fisheries, cold storage facilities, etc.
being taken up in the district and their progress reports, limitations, requirements and problems in implementation.
An exhibition�demonstrating the achievements of various departments in the district � was also displayed during the seminar.
