Imphal, June 11 2010:
Pop singer Shakira, who recently visited a school in South Africa to interact with the students, thinks that a grand-scale event like FIFA World Cup can bring attention to issues like education in the world.
"(The World Cup is) a great opportunity to bring all the attention to issues as important as education.
72 million kids around the world (are) not able to attend school, of which 32 million are Africans.
So this is our chance to make this World Cup's lasting legacy education for all," she quoted.
The singer, who is a goodwill ambassador for UNICEF, made a trip to Isu'lihle Primary School in Johannesburg to meet local children.
Shakira toured classrooms and interacted with students before giving a group of excited children a dance lesson.
Recently, Shakira launched a range of charity soccer shirts for the upcoming World Cup.
