The 4th biennial conference cum 14th assembly of the Naga Women Union Manipur (NWUM) which began on October 3 concluded on a positive note today.
The three-day long programme held under the theme, 'Indigenous Women in Nation Building' was sponsored by Development Cooperation Section (DCS), Luxembourg.
Eno Cheranamei, MP (Outer Manipur) was the chief guest during the inauguration function, Nepuni Piku, Secretary General NPMHR was guest of honor and KS Paul Leo, president of UNC was the functional president.
And the valedictory function was graced by Eno.
Bendangmayang Jamir, president Naga Hoho as chief guest, Khesheli Z Chishi, president NMAS as guest of honour and Stephen Ankang, president TNL as the functional president.
The conference which also took up the topic of 'Indigenous women and Globalization' as a sub-theme was marked by brain storming session during which all the participants shared their views and opinions on various issues related to the problem being faced by the women in Society.
Dr Gina Shangkham, former president NWUM, PA Theko former convener NPMHR (Manipur Sect') and Dr L.Senalei Khayi, lecturer Pettigrew College Ukhrul spoke on the topic of indigenous women in decision making and globalization and indigenous women.
Apart from the function , an exhibition cum sale, presentation of cultural programme including folk song, folk dance, traditional attire, etc and demonstration of indigenous games are the other hallmarks of the three-day long event.
Prizes were also given away to the eminent women activists working in various fields.
Among them, Best Mother award was given to "Maram Queen" Apei Hinga for her tireless efforts in taking up any works with dignity looking beyond the horizon.
