Works Minister K Ranjit said that 2,500 drums of bitumens have been stockpiled as a measure to avoid shortage of bitumens during the working season of the current fiscal year.
He was speaking to reporters today while surveying Imphal Urban Bypass road.
He said there will be no shortage of bitumen during the working season of the year.
The bitumens are stocked at the Store Yard located at Mantripukhri as well as at Mechanical Division, Porompat.
The Works Minister said, the Works department has acquired two additional hot mix plans apart from the existing six hot mix plans the department had.
This will help the department in executing construction works of roads.
The newly acquired devices are from Wilson Company.
The devices are attached with pollution control system.
K Ranjit further said, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has already given its approval for the construction of the bypass.
He said the government is conducting a survey to asses the likely affect on land by the bypass.
He said the government will give maximum efforts to construct the bypass without affecting individual and agriculture lands.
In case such lands are to be affected circumstance, fitting compensation will be paid.
The 30-kilometre stretch bypass will be started from Khongampat Orchid Farm, Lamdeng Solid Waste Management Plant, Iroishemba, Langjing Achouba, Toubungkhok, Ghari, Airport, Mongshangei, Mayai Lambi, Hiyangthang Bridge, before converging at We've enough stock of bitumen: Ranjit Langthabal on NH-39. He said survey of 14 and a half kilometer has been completed so far.
He said some individual and agriculture lands from Langjing to Toubungkhok stretch are said to be affected.
As the lands are to be affected unavoidably, the minister appealed the people to extend cooperation to the government.
Ranjit said the bypass will solve the problem of traffic congestion and reduce road accident.
It will also connect all the three National Highways in the state which will facilitate easier communication.
