MIS organises prize distribution ceremony

Millennium Institute of Sciences (MIS) organised its gold medal award distribution cum prize distribution ceremony at the premises of the institute today.
Member of Parliament Dr Th Meinya Singh, Planning and Development Authority Chairman Dr Kh Loken and Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur Secretary Dr H Nabachandra were the chief guest, president and guest of honour of the function respectively.
In the HSSLC examination 2011, the 2nd, 6th, 14th and 18th position holders were the students of MIS .
Mutum Gautam Memorial award, which carries a cash prize of Rs 5000 and a memento, was given to Amom Rohen Singh of the institute who got 2nd position in the HSSLC examination 2011 .
The best teacher's award, which carries a cash prize of Rs 2000 and a memento, was conferred to Huidrom David of Physics Department of the Institute for producing student, who scored highest mark in the subject in the HSSLC examination 2011 .
Speaking at the occasion, Th Meinya observed that the number of students who go outside the State for pursuing higher education have reduced with the improvement of law and order situation of the State.
Saying that it is an encouraging development, the MP said that it would save a huge amount from shelling out outside the State for their education.
Th Meinya said that the State now has good schools, colleges, University and National Institute of Technology (NIT) .
Dr H Nabachandra informed the gathering that 90 percent of the preparations for the HSSLC examination 2012 has been completed and it would be held in the second week of March next year.
Around 30,000 students would appear in Class XI examination and around 23,000 students are expected to appear in the Class XII examination, he said.
Dr Nabachandra further said that as CCE has been implemented, 20 marks of every subjects would be drawn from internal assessment of respective schools while 80 marks would be given by the Council.
Saying that students shifted from the schools outside the State would need eligibility certificate from the Council, Dr Nabachandra urged various schools of the State not to admit students who do not possess this certificate.
He also informed that preparation of registration certificates for Class XI students has been completed and ready for distribution to schools.
PDA Chairman Dr Kh Loken while speaking at the function said, as the State has good institutes, the students are not required to go outside the State for education.
