Imphal, November 13 2011:
The Movement for Tribal People's Rights, Manipur (MTPRM) has observed that it does not think it necessary to participate in the public hearing being conducted by the Committee on Re-organization of Administrative and Police District Boundary (CRA &PDB) considering tribal as a composition of multi-ethnic communities in Manipur.
Being a tribal organization, MTPRM's participation and giving suggestions, views and opinions in the present situation may do more harm than remedy especially when the issue relating to land is very much sensitive and serious in nature.
Therefore, MTPRM would like to appeal to CRA&PDB to study the matter minutely, President of MTPRM S Ramhaoleng said in a statement.
Ramhaoleng observed that CRA &PDB should not entertain anybody who claimed to be MTPRM executives or members as 'we have decided to abstain from participating in the public hearing and if the CRA &PDB recorded any suggestions, views and opinions from anybody representing MTPRM, it would be considered as an attempt to mislead the public.
Refuting media report stating that MTPRM is seeking appointment for participation in the public hearing, Ramhaoleng clarified that MTPRM has sought no such appointment, and therefore, individuals posing as MTPRM representatives are bogus and have malicious intention of misleading the CRA &PDB in particular and the general public at large.
