Continuing its drive against drug abuse, All Manipur Anti-Drug Association (AMADA) has pulled up a person along with 100 bottles of Recodex from his possession from Lilong area yesterday afternoon.
The individual identified as Md Babu (28) s/o Md Abdul Salam of Lilong Turel Ahanbi Darul Ullum Makha was rounded up by the volunteers of AMADA, Lilong Noori Bazar Unit and he was paraded in front of media-persons at the head office of AMADA at Keishampat here today.
Talking to mediapersons at the occasion, secretary of AMADA Lilong Noori Bazar Unit Md Ayub Khan said Md Babu has been dealing in Recodex and for the last two and half months.
During the course of interrogation, it has been learnt that he procured the banned pharmaceutical substance from one Md Ayub Khan s/o of Md Sanajaoba of Haoreibi Awang Leikai by paying Rs 45 per bottle and sold the same to other people at Rs 55 per bottle, thereby making a profit of Rs 10 per bottle, unit secretary informed.
Since warnings had been given twice to Md Ayub Khan in connection with supplying drugs, he has been asked to surrender to the AMADA within June 20 as the last warning.
If he fails to do so, then AMADA would assume that it is beyond its means to rectify him and would accordingly handed him over to the people for necessary action, the Unit secretary declared.
