Imphal, November 03 2011:
Even as the lawyers of Gauhati High Court, Imphal Bench have suspended all Court works from yesterday due to non-availability of petroleum products, High Court Bar Association has submitted a memorandum to Home Minister P Chidambaram drawing attention regarding the state of affairs prevailing in Manipur as a fallout of the ongoing economic blockade clamped along the National Highways.
The memorandum demanded the Home Minister for taking up of necessary action to open up the blockades by using law enforcement machinaries belonging to the Government of India.
The association also pressed on setting up of a National Highway Protection Force for all time protection of the highways of the State.
The representation further demanded for prevention of black marketing and adulteration of essential commodities in the State.
It also demanded for setting up of a separate High Court of Manipur by passing a Bill in the coming winter session of the Parliament.
