Six UG cadres belonging to PREPAK and PULF have been nabbed by security forces from different places today.
three active members of PREPAK (VC) group have been arrested by Imphal West police commandos from Nagamapal RIMS Road crossing at around 5.30 pm today.
according to a statement issued by Imphal West SP Clay Khongsai the arrested trio have been identified as Khagembam Milan alias Sonu Singh s/o (L) Kh Lembi of Phumlou Siphai Maning Leikai, Moirangthem Prem Singh s/o M Birachandra of Khagempali Nganapi Thong Mapal and Tokpam Somendro Singh s/o T Brajabidhu of Sangaiprou Mamang Leikai.
Informing that the three came on a dark coloured Honda Activa without registration number, the statement said that on preliminary interrogation they disclosed of being active member of PREPAK (VC) group and working in the finance section of the outfit under the command of one Sengjenba.
Serving demand letters in Imphal area and extortion from Government departments as well as from the general public for party funds are stated to be main activities of these three.
The Honda Activa seized from kh Milan is said to have purchased for party activities mostly confined to serving demand letters, added the SP.
Meanwhile in different unrelated incidents two cadres of PULF and a PREPAK cadre have been apprehended from different places, informed an AR PRO release.
One PULF (Azad group) cadre identified as Md Shikander Ali (21) of Lilong Turel Ahanbi, Boroi Makhong was apprehended from his locality during an operation undertaken by troops of 32 AR today.
The cadre was handed over to Lilong police station.
Another PULF cadre of the same group was nabbed by troops of 22 Maratha LI from Bengun area today.
The UG cadre identified as S/S Sgt maj Amjad Ali (District commander Imphal West) of Bengun Mayai Leikai was handed over to Mayang Imphal PS.
In yet another incident, troops of 34 AR apprehended one PREPAK cadre identified as S/S Sgt Maj Elangbam Umojeet alias Kargil (21) of Khangabok during an operation at his locality yesterday.
One 9 mm pistol and four live rounds were recovered from his possession.
Umojeet was handed over to Thoubal PS today, added the release.
