Union Taekwondo Academy (UTA), Keishamthong retained the State taekwondo championship title with a commanding tally of 394 points in the 23rd edition of the competition that concluded at Khuman Lampak indoor Stadium today.
The champion academy topped in sub-junior boys (95), junior girls (92), senior boys (57) and senior girls (66) categories of the championship organised by All Manipur Taekwondo Association since july 26.With 264 points in its kitty Creative Taekwondo Institute (CTI), Sagolband secured the overall runners-up position with second best finishes behind the champions in sub-junior boys (70), sub-junior girls (44)), junior girls (56) and senior girls (39) divisions.
in all 470 players from 27 affiliated units of AMTA competed in the championship.
An announcement was made during the closing ceremony that the 2nd North East Taekwondo Championship would be held at Moreh Town from october 20 till 25.The prize distribution programme was held with Education Minister L Jayantakumar Singh, Deputy Director (Transport) BK sharma and AMTA president Y Khemchand as the chief guest, guest of honour and president respectively.
