Imphal, December 20:
The survivor of the December 15 incident at Taothong, Lourembam Sanjit now recuperating at RIMS recounted the incidents leading to the killing of his uncle Lourembam Basanta while talking to reporters today.
According to Sanjit, the prime accused Premchand (35) was a resident of Taothong Ayungbi Mayai Leikai before he was banished from the locality.
One Lourembam ongbi Sushila (26) was forcibly betrothed to him after they were caught in a compromising position on May 27, this year, following which Premchand was banished from the locality.
The killing of Lourembam Basanta on December 15 was a revengeful strike for the May 27 incident, disclosed Sanjit.
On December 15, Premchand and his accomplices using the name of UNLF, forcibly led Basanta and Sanjit to the Lamdeng Khunou Public Girls' High School away from the public road.
Premchand said they would talk over the 'case'.
There at the school ground, Premchand fired two rounds killing Basanta on the spot while he (Sanjit) survived as the bullet only gazed his face, recounted Sanjit.
Premchand was addressed by his accomplices as 'corporal' and 'sir', the injured victim recalled.
He only retold the words used by the killers to the people and there was no intention to blame the UNLF, Sanjit clarified.
While appealing to all concerned to search Premchand and punish accordingly, Sanjit pleaded to the State Government and all concerned to make arrangements so that nothing undesirable happens to the family of deceased Basanta and himself.
