Two cadres of the armed outfit UPPK have been apprehended by a team of Imphal East district police thereby preventing possible strike at the private residence of an MLA, claimed SP (IE) K Radheshyam.
Briefing newspersons regarding arrest of the two at his office chamber today, Radheshyam said the UPPK cadres were hauled up from Top Khongnangkhong area at around 9.30 am from whom a lathode gun with two lathode bombs and an autorickshaw (MN1E/6366) were also recovered.
Contending that with the arrest of the two a plot to launch bomb or firearm attack at the residence of a senior Minister had been thwarted, the SP also identified the captives as Sanjenbam Kalachand (29) s/o S Jilla of Wakha Nongmaiching Chingkhong Mamang Leikai and Mutum Romio (27) s/o Manglem from Kongpal Kshetri Leikai.
On the other hand, a team of Imphal East district police commandos arrested three members, including a 55 year old female activist, of the proscribed RPF/PLA from different places this morning.
It is informed that the commando team apprehended one Yambem Nandeshwor alias Jolish (39) s/o Birchandra from Kongpal Kongkham Leikai at around 7.30 am besides recovering a 9 mm pistol and three live rounds from his possession.
Nandeshwor, who is from Sawombung Wairi, reportedly confessed that he an active member of the armed organisation.
Another team of the district's police commandos and troops of 39 Assam Rifles arrested two cadres of the outfit from near Heingang Panthoibi Lampak.
Two Chinese hand-grenades have been recovered from the two, that include a woman namely Sapam (O) Kebi Devi (55) w/o S Ibungobi of Phaknung Makha Leikai.
The other arrested person is said to be one Oinam Sanajaoba alias Maimu (28) s/o Kalachand of heingang Mayai leikai.
meanwhile, Sr SP (IW) L Kailun, said in a statement that one Laitonjam Rupa Singh s/o L Ibomcha Singh of Khurai Konsam Leikai has been apprehended by a team of Imphal West district police commandos from a rented house in Chingmeirong at 10.30 am today.
Informing that Rupa is a collector of the banned UNLF organisation and had been working under the command of his own brother namely L Inao Singh, the SSP claimed to have recovered Rs 15,22,000 based on Rupa's disclosure that the amount was collected from contractors and agents involved in siphoning APL/BPL rice.
Further stating that Rupa was about to leave for Guwahati along with the collected money, Kailun said L Inao Singh has also been arrested after disclosure by the younger brother and that the second arrestee revealed of working under the command of one S/S Capt.

Another sum of Rs 2,33,330 had also been recovered from the possession of Inao in addition to seizing a .32 licensed pistol from Rupa.
