Tanker drivers not to take steering wheels

Besides launching a 'steering wheel off' strike against the abduction of an oil tanker driver, All Manipur Petroleum Tanker Drivers' Union has decided not to unload petroleum products which were earlier shipped in unless the abducted driver is released.
Talking to media persons today at the office of All Manipur Petroleum Tanker Drivers' Union located at ISBT, Khuman Lampak, president of the Union Y Bhupenchandra Ghosh blamed the negligence of the CRPF men who escorted 116 tankers from Khatkhati towards Imphal that resulted in the abduction of a driver identified as Surjit by unidentified gunmen.
Announcing the launch of a 'steering wheel off' stir against the abduction of the driver, Bhupenchandra Gosh said that oil tanker drivers would continue the stir till the abducted driver is released.

Surjit was driving an oil tanker ( MN 02-6268) loaded with 12 kilo-litre of Diesel.
His truck was among the 116 vehicles that approached Imphal from Khatkhati in Assam under CRPF escort.
Bhupenchandra also said that around 200 vehicles loaded with petroleum products which are stationed in Imphal would neither unload their shipments nor handed them over to the IOC authority unless the abducted driver is released.
The union also shared the pain and suffering of the family members of Surjit who was abducted from Khuzuma in Nagaland yesterday around 8.30am.
