Bodies warn authority concerned

Several student and civil organisations of the State today warned of launching various forms of agitation if the concerned authority fails to take action against Wahidur Rehman, who assaulted a minor student from Postal Colony, Palace Compound on April 13 .
A joint meeting of several students' and civil organisations was held in this regard today at the office of Socio-Economic and Cultural Organisation (SECO) located at Haoreibi Makha under the joint aegis of Postal Colony Welfare Committee, SECO, MSF, IPCO, SDSCILI.
Strongly condemning the physical assault of a ten-old student by one Wahidur Rahman, who claimed to be a director, the representatives strongly demanded the authority concerned to immediately book the culprit and deliver fitting punishment.
While strongly denouncing the alleged inaction and delay of the concerned authority in booking the culprit despite registering an FIR, the meeting also urged the concerned department to act swiftly so as to ensure peaceful environment for the students.
The meeting also demanded Wahidur Rehman to tender apology for his inhuman act immediately.
Representatives of the student and civil organisations have also visited the victim, Rahis Khan Aribam, at JN Hospital where he is still hospitalised.
The meeting was attended by representatives of Indigenous Pangal Cultural Organisation, Paobitek Islamic Multicultural Associa- tion, Manipuri Students' Federation, Community for Rural Enhancement, Rural Organisation for Social Elevation, Young Star Club and Anti Social Activities Awareness and Prevention Committee.
Rahis Khan of Postal Colony, Palace Compound is a student of Heritage Convent School.
He was severely battered by Wahidur Rahman that he is still hospitalised.
Wahidur had also reportedly threatened the mother of Rahis Khan when she tried to intervene on hearing the cry of her minor son.
