Leaders of these groups were meeting at Delhi in their efforts to materialise unification of the splintered groups of KCP Mangang, KCP Lamphel and KCP City Meitei.
Acting on the specific intelligence inputs, a joint team of officials of 57 Mountain Division and Bishnupur police commandos were sent to Delhi to carry out the operation.

Covert surveillance of the suspected house over a period of time confirmed presence of the rebel leaders and vital inputs were obtained from records of their telephone calls.
On positive confirmation of a meeting being conducted, a swift and well coordinated operation was launched in two locations at New Delhi and it proved a great accomplishment with the arrest of the five KCP leaders and two women cadres.
Further interrogation of these leaders revealed that the house in which they were staying was a hideout of the group in Delhi and the group was planning to disrupt the forthcoming Republic Day celebrations.
It has also been confirmed that Chongtham Ibomcha was the main mediator working for unification of KCP Mangang, Lamphel and City Meitei factions.
Explicit details of extortion and draft press release of the unification to be released on January 26 have also been recovered from the Delhi hideout.
Informing that not a single bullet was fired and no injury was caused to any civilian, it asserted that Operation Grand Slam, coordinated by 57 Mountain Division was a huge success.
