Imphal, December 06 2009:
The proscribed UNLF has lauded the ULFA Chairman Rajkhowa's assertion that he did not surrender to the Indian Government and also his reaffirmation of ULFA's stand that he would never go to talks with the Government of India if the issue of Assam's sovereignty was not on the agenda.
In a press release, UNLF Chairman Sana Yaima stated that this has certainly given a new surge of inspiration not only to the patriotic peoples of Assam but also to the entire patriotic peoples of 'our Region'.
His arrest by the Bangladesh Government and subsequent hand over to the Indian Government, according to news reports, must have excellently strengthened Bangladesh's relation with India at Government level.
However, on the other spectrum, it has also deeply hurt the fraternal sentiments of the patriotic peoples of 'our Region'.
If one recalled the fraternal help and support rendered by the peoples of Assam to the liberation war of Bangladesh, the wounded feelings and sentiments of the peoples of Assam would be much deeper.
Sana Yaima further reaffirmed the UNLF's firm solidarity with ULFA and the peoples of Assam as fraternal people in arms.
